Over 5000 athletes to compete in 20 sports at IV Islamic Solidarity Games

Baku. 12 May. REPORT.AZ/ Officials of the Coordination Commission of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) hold a meeting one year before the start of the IV Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, in order to assess preparations to the games.

Report was told in the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the meeting presided by ISSF Vice President, Chairman of the Coordination Commission, Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum.

At the meeting, representatives of the Coordination Commission have been submitted several presentations, prepared by the Azerbaijan Islamic Solidarity Games Operations Committee (AISGOC). During the seminar, they have been provided with detailed information on the venues, sports programs, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as on other organizational innovations.

Youth and Sports Minister, AISGOC CEO Azad Rahimov said that receiving the Coordination Commission in Baku allows to review results of the works, carried out since the last meeting, and discuss implementation of the future plans: 'Over 5000 athletes will compete in 20 types of sport in IV Islamic Solidarity Games. Taking into consideration, successful host of major sports events in Azerbaijan, we are sure that the representatives, visiting our country, will return to their countries with pleasant impressions'.

Notably, the ISSF representatives will join official gala dinner, organized on the occasion of one year to the beginning of the games and celebrate the opening countdown together with Baku residents.
