Baku. 12 September. REPORT.AZ/ Opening ceremony of XXV Spartakiad of oil, gas and chemical industry employees was held with the organization of "Neftchi Sports Club" Public Union.
Report informs, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, Head of "Neftchi Sports Club" Public Union Management Administration Sadig Sadigov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismayil Ismayilov, sports community representatives, the Olympic, world and European champions attended the event in Garadagh Training and Sports Base.
Opening the ceremony, R. Abdullayev said that organization of Spartakiad among oil, gas and chemical industry employees every year has become a good tradition: "I'd like to congratulate everyone on the occasion of the opening of the Spartakiad. State care for sports field is increasing day by day. Large sports projects are implemented in Azerbaijan. A large number of Olympic complexes, various sports facilities have been built so far and work continues in this direction. The club has an indispensable role in training professional athletes. 59 medals won by the club members contributed to the country to take first place in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in May this year. I would like to wish success to the participants of the Spartakiad. I'd like to congratulate all of you on the Day of Oilmen".
I.Ismayilov also wished success to the participants and pointed out that such prestigious tournaments as First European Games and IV Islamic Solidarity Games were held in Azerbaijan.
Notably, teams of 31 enterprises will take part in XXV Spartakiad of oil, gas and chemical industry employees. 1238 athletes participate in the competition on 14 types of sports (mini-football, athletics, swimming, volleyball, streetball, rock climbing, chess, draughts, table tennis, darts, foot tennis and shooting, etc.), which 201 are women.
The Spartakiad will be held on September 11-17.
