Mingachevir in motion: Day two of President’s Cup regatta

The waters of Mingachevir ripple with excitement today as the international regatta President’s Cup–2025 continues, honoring the 102nd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth.
Now in full swing, the second day of the prestigious competition brings together athletes at the Kur Olympic Training and Sports Center, where competitors will test their strength and stamina in canoe and kayak events, as well as Olympic-style rowing across a range of distances.
The regatta opened yesterday in scenic Sugovushan, where Azerbaijani rowers Amil Ramazanov, Alimurad Hajizada, and Mustafa Valizada made a splash by claiming bronze medals.
With more than 200 rowers from 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa, this year's regatta is a melting pot of rowing talent. Participants include athletes from Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
The curtain will fall on the tournament tomorrow, but today promises a thrilling showcase of speed, endurance, and sportsmanship.
