Irish head coach turns down a lucrative offer from Azerbaijan

Baku. 1 December. REPORT.AZ/ Head coach of Irish boxing team, Zaur Antia have turned down a lucrative offer from Azerbaijan.

Report informs, the Georgia-born coach told the Irish Independent.

He said that prefers current team: "I think I will stay, but we'll see. I want the team to get more respect, this is a great team and they deserve respect."

As reported, Antia was offered a substantial six-figure salary, which would have doubled his wage, to lead Azerbaijan to the Olympics.

Notably, coached by Zaur Antia, Ireland did, however, still win 17 medals in World and European competition in 2016, failed to medal at Rio 2016.
