Eldaniz Azizli: " European and world champion title won't make me complacent "

"We are in the final stage of preparation. I'm going to wrestle on April 12. First, the freestyle wrestlers and then girls will start fighting. The Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete in the end. Everything is good in terms of preparation. All our wrestlers compete to become a champion. I think we will show better performance in the upcoming European Championship," Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Eldaniz Azizli told Report speaking about the European Championship in Bucharest, Romania.

The world and European champion, who is fighting in the 55 kg weight category, stressed the importance of this year's competition.

The 27-year-old athlete, though a winner of the last European Championships, said it would not make him complacent: “Sometimes an Olympic champion cannot become a European champion. I want to get a license for the Olympics. This year will be very difficult and responsible for us."

Azizli added that his main goal was to win a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games: "My goal is to be an Olympic champion and return home with a gold medal."

Notably, the European Championship will be held on April 8-14. 28 wrestlers from Azerbaijan will participate in the competition.
