Date of Baku Marathon 2018 announced

Baku. 6 March. REPORT.AZ/ The date of the Baku Marathon 2018 has been announced.

Report informs referring to the official website of project, the race organized by the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Seaside Boulevard Department and the Baku Olympic Stadium will be held on May 13.

The exclusive partner of the Baku Marathon 2018 project is "Azercell Telecom" LLc. The project is implemented by SMG ("Sport Marketing Group").

The purpose of the Baku Marathon 2018 project is to support the development of sports, promote healthy lifestyles, and bring people together around good deeds. The marathon will start at the National Flag Square and run 21 kilometers all the way to the Baku Olympic Stadium.

A noteworthy detail is that the first semi-marathon event held on May 1, 2016, got over 7000 registered participants. The semi-marathon attended by Leyla Aliyeva, the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, along with the Azerbaijani participants, brought together almost 500 expats from Spain, France, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, Czech Republic as well as representatives of embassies of other countries living and working in Azerbaijan. More than 13,000 participants have been registered in the second semi-marathon 2017.

As the project is welcomed by residents of the region, the semi-marathon was organized in Ganja on September 17, 2017.
