Azerbaijani chess players - Shahriyar Mammadyarov and Teymur Rajabov - will take part in the first stage of the FIDE Grand Prix to be held in Moscow today.
Report informs that the race to take place on May 17-29 with 16 grandmasters will be held according to the Olympic system for the first time. Each stage will cover three days and two parties will be played. If any participant fails to score 1.5 points for victory, then tie-break will be used. The first round will be held on May 17 - 19, the second on May 20-22, while the semifinal will take place on 23-25 May. The chess players will have a rest the day before the finals on May 27-29.
