Azerbaijani athletes won 1 silver and 1 bronze medals at the World Boxing Championship

Baku. 24 November. REPORT.AZ/ Women's World Boxing Championship held in Jeju (South Korea) completed. Report informs the national team of Azerbaijan won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in competition.

Yana Alekseeva received silver medal in the weight category up to 60 kg. In the final, she met with five-time world champion and six-time European champion Irish Katie Taylor. Despite the fact that Alekseeva was very resistant the judges gave the victory to Taylor.

Acting in the weight category up to 69 kg European champion and silver medalist of the last championship Elena Vistropova this time won bronze medal. She lost in the semifinals to Asen Bilon from Panama.

It should be noted that the national team of Azerbaijan two years ago earned one silver medal at the World Cup, held in China. Then Elena Vistopova won a silver medal and received a license to participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
