Azerbaijan's wrestling squads for European Nations Cup named

Baku. 7 November. REPORT.AZ/ Squad of the Azerbaijan's freestyle and women's wrestling national teams has been announced to participate in the European Nations Cup - ALROSA Cup international tournament in Moscow, Russia.

Report informs citing the press service of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF), national team includes a total of 16 wrestlers. In a team race tournament, athletes will compete in 8 weight categories.

Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Romania and two additional teams invited by the International Wrestling Union will compete in the women's wrestling competition.

Turkan Nasirova (48 kg), Sabina Hamzelzade (53 kg), Solmaz Hashimzade (55 kg), Alena Kolesnik (58 kg), Tatyana Omelchenko (60 kg), Elmira Gambarova (63 kg) and Elis Manolova (69 kg) will fight under the guidance of senior coach Aslan Aghayev and coach Rovshan Umudov.

The freestyle wrestling team will leave for Moscow guided by head coach Firdovsi Umudov, coaches Arif Abdullayev and Rovshan Hajiyev. The team squad includes Giorgi Edisherashvili (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (61 kg), Zalimkhan Veliyev (65 kg), Murtuz Muslumov (70 kg), Ismayil Abdullayev, Abubakr Abakarov (74 kg each), Aleksandr Gostiev (86 kg), Sharif Sharifov (97 kg) and Jamaladdin Mahammadov (125 kg). Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Moldova and two additional teams invited by the International Wrestling Union will compete in the freestyle wrestling competition.

International referee Asif Shiraliyev will represent Azerbaijan in the match handling.

According to the tournament program, group matches will take place on November 11, final matches the following day.
