An 82-year-old is the world’s oldest female hockey player, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Report informs via New York Post.

Linda Sinrod, of Lorton, Virginia, US, a former college figure skater who plays in a women’s ice hockey league there, got a nod from the reference book Friday.

“I’ve always been the oldest person playing so have always been curious as to how old the oldest female hockey player was and eventually as I got to be 80, I checked Guinness World Records to see how old the oldest was,” she told the record book.

The octogenarian was in her late 30s when she helped found the first women’s ice hockey team in the Washington, DC area, where she played for 10 years — until she decided it was time to hang up her skates.

However, at age 67, she returned to the sport and played on another team until she turned 75 because they asked her to leave.

“Since I am older and therefore slower than anyone else, it is easier for the opposing players to catch up to me and steal the puck away,” she explained.

That setback didn’t stop her from pursuing her passion for the puck. After she was kicked off the team, she joined the women’s league for which she currently plays.

To train for hitting the ice, she weight trains twice a week and bikes three times per week.
