Shooting on Azerbaijan-Iran border: 1 dead

On April 22, three unknown persons attempted to trespass the Azerbaijan-Iran border at about 03:30 pm near Dashkend village of Azerbaijan’s Yardimli region, the State Border Service told Report.

The border guards were forced to open fire on the trespassers as they disobeyed their order to stop.

One of the intruders was shot, while the others managed to escape through foggy woods.

The wounded was given first aid and taken to Jalilabad district hospital. However, despite the efforts, doctors could not save his life.

The border guards seized 2 kg hashish, one double-barreled shotgun, six cartridges, and one cartridge-case at the scene.

A border representative of the Iranian side was summoned to the site.

Necessary operational and investigative actions are underway.
