Prosecutor's Office and Ministry of Emergency make joint statement on missing alpinists

Baku. 6 January. REPORT.AZ/ On December 27, Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR), State Border Service have engaged helicopter to start searching for three members of Gilavar sport club Namin Bunyatov (born in 1983), Babur Huseynov (born in 1990), Farida Jabrayilzade (born in 1991), who had departed in the direction of Tufandagh peak located in the territory of Shahdagh National Park on December 23, 2017.

Report informs referring to the joint statement of Prosecutor's Office and Ministry of Emergency Situations, the preliminary investigations determined that N. Bunyatov, B. Huseynov and F. Jabrayilzade on December 23 at 14:00 departed from Khinalig village of Quba district to Khinalig  crossing point of Shahdagh National Park with purpose to ascend Tufandagh peak, and went missing under unknown circumstances.

A criminal case filed on Article 314.2 of Criminal Code (negligence causing serious consequences).

Currently, necessary operational investigation measures are carried out by the Department for Investigation of Grave Crimes in the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.

Despite that mountainous area and unfavorable weather conditions create challenges Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Border Services intensively continue the search operations.
