The Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have issued a statement on the detention of Chairman of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party Ali Karimli.

According to Report, the joint statement reads that on June 28 Chairman of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party Ali Karimli was summoned to the Binagadi District Police Department on calling for illegal rallies in front of the Musavat Party headquarters in Binagadi District.

"It was said that the attempt to hold a rally in the territories uncoordinated with the Baku City Executive Power contradicts the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On freedom of assembly'.

Preventing such illegal acts is aimed at violating public order, he was officially warned that the organizers would be brought to responsibility in accordance with the requirements of the law on "Prosecutor's Office" and he was released.
