ICRC representative met with a Turkish citizen, seeking asylum from Azerbaijan

Baku. 24 May. REPORT.AZ/ Mehmet Halil oğlu Sünmez, who has been detained in Azerbaijan and accused of committing crime in Turkey 12 years ago, filed an appeal against the court's decision on his extradition'.

Report was told by his lawyer Vasif Israfilov.

According to the lawyer, appeal has been submitted to Baku Court of Appeal.

In addition, V.Israfilov said that M.Sünmez has met with a representative of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC): 'Mehmet Sünmez seeks asylum from Azerbaijan. He doesn't want to be extradited to his country - to Turkish Republic'.
