Two hectares burn down in building materials market fire in Baku - UPDATED

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has released official information about the fire at the EuroHome building materials market in Baku's Binagadi district.

Report informs that, according to the information, the fire was contained:

"According to preliminary estimates, 2 of 5 hectares of the total market area have burned down. The rest part and surrounding buildings, including residential houses, were protected from fire.

"According to preliminary information, the fire erupted due to ignition of electric cables in a ceramic tile shop and then spread to the rest territory. An investigation is underway."

The Ministry of Health has provided additional information regarding the fire in the EuroHome building materials market.

Report informs, citing the Ministry, that six people received medical aid as of 10:45, while two were hospitalized with smoke inhalation and one with a cut wound.

Additional forces and three emergency helicopters have been dispatched to extinguish the fire in the building materials market in Baku, Report informs, citing the Emergency Ministry.

Earlier, the Ministry declared the third level alert over the fire in building materials market

Report informs that the fire started in EuroHome building materials market in Binagadi district.

Firefighters were involved at the spot.
