Coronavirus has become a nightmare for all European countries after the devastation in Italy. The states take various measures against virus danger. For example, on March 14, the Czech Republic closed all shops and restaurants throughout the country.
Germany also joined this club and decided to take some preventive steps against the spread of COVID-19.
Germany closed the refugee camp in Berlin, due to coronavirus outbreak.
European Bureau of Report informs that one of the asylum seekers was hospitalized on suspicion of coronavirus last night. The results of blood and saliva analysis turned out to be positive. The Berlin municipality and the health department decided to close the camp immediately and keep the residents under quarantine at a nearby school building.
Last night, the authorities accompanied by police and ambulances moved 135 residents of the camp to a nearby school gym.
According to the information, 24 Azerbaijani citizens were among the evacuated asylum seekers. Moreover, 20 people were over 60, and 15 children under 5 were in the camp.
The Berlin Health Department said older people would be under control in the capital hospitals since they are in high risk category.
Notably, this is the first coronavirus case in German refugee camps.
Earlier, Germany suspended the deportation of asylum seekers to European countries such as Greece, Italy, and Hungary under the Dublin agreement but also decided to keep new asylum seekers in a 14-day quarantine period.
