Former head of Kyrgyzstan Customs extradited from Azerbaijan

Former head of Kyrgyzstan Customs extradited from Azerbaijan Baku. 28 December. Former head of Kyrgyzstan Customs extradited from Azerbaijan

Baku. 28 December. REPORT.AZ/ Former head of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan Adamkul Zhunusov, who was placed on the international wanted list over corruption, had been extradited from Azerbaijan to Bishkek, the press service of Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's office said in a statement.

"On December 14, 2018, the Prosecutor General's office of the Republic of Azerbaijan granted the request of the Prosecutor General's office of the Kyrgyz Republic to extradite a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic for criminal prosecution as part of the criminal case in the jurisdiction of the State Service for Combating Economic Crime under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic," the Prosecutor General's office said.

In line with the statement, on December 28, the employees of Kyrgyzstan's State Service for Combating Economic Crime transferred Zhunusov to Bishkek upon instruction of the Prosecutor General's office of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

The statement also notes that the extradition became possible owing to the coordinated work of the Prosecutor General's offices of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. 

Adamkul Zhunusov was detained at the Heydar Aliyev International airport in Baku on December 5.

Azerbaijan has issued a permit for the extradition of the former head of Kyrzgystan's customs.
