Criminal case of Jahangir Hajiyev and 21 people regarding 4.7 billion AZN brought to trial

Baku. 24 December. REPORT.AZ/ Criminal case of former chairman of the Board of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, Jahangir Hajiyev, and 21 more people was brought to trial.

Report informs that the criminal proceeding will be chaired by Judge of Baku Court on Grave Crimes Faig Ganiyev.

The timing of the trial is still unknown.

According to official information, by the order of J. Hajiyev, who served as the Chairman of the Board of "International Bank of Azerbaijan" in 2001-2015, illegal contracts are concluded on promissory notes with real value $ 3,4 bln and € 987 million (3.8 billion AZN at the relevant period).

On this episode, Hajiyev and another 21 people were charged with embezzlement, the investigation of the criminal case was completed and transferred to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes.

Notably, Baku Court on Grave Crimes sentenced Hajiyev to 15 years in prison.
