Armenian terrorists buried the corpses of 200 civilian victims of the Khojaly genocide around Askeran fortress, Azerbaijan’s State Security Service said, Report informs.
During the interrogation, Rashid Beglaryan, who is accused of committing the crimes, informed about his participation in the Khojaly tragedy in February 1992 and said that on February 25, 1992, the Armenian armed forces and illegal Armenian armed detachments operating under them moved from the city of Khankandi to the city of Khojaly, where there was a dense population of civilians. Following the pre-arranged plan at the time of their attack, false promises were made to the surviving Azerbaijani civilians that they would be able to safely pass through the Askaran district to go in the direction of the Aghdam district. Up to 200 people, mostly women, children, and elderly people, who were moving along the bank of the Gargarchay River towards the Aghdam district, were ambushed in the area near the Askaran fortress and killed with automatic riffles. After the personal belongings of the deceased were looted by the members of the criminal group, their bodies were buried.
During the on-the-spot verification of the testimony, Rashid Beglaryan gave detailed information about the places where crimes against the civilian population were committed.
