Baku. 17 October. REPORT.AZ/ An action under the slogan 'Protect Azerbaijani girls!' was staged outside the Georgian government building in Tbilisi.

Report's local bureau informs that the participants in the action organized by the Georgian Women's Movement noted that the 17-year-old Azerbaijani girl was kidnapped in the Lambali village of Sagareco municipality on October 12.

Member of the Women's Movement Baya Pataraya told reporters that abduction of a girl is common among the Azerbaijani community in Georgia.

"Police do not investigate such cases. After the girl returns home, they say that she was abducted on her own will. The police expect the families to settle the issue between themselves. The person who kidnapped the girl must be fined GEL 5,000. Azerbaijani girls are facing ethnic and gender discrimination. We protest again it. We urge the police to identify the girl's whereabouts."

She said if the girl is not found in the near future, they would stage a protest action outside the Lambali police department.
