The 74th International Astronautical Congress will be held in Azerbaijan from October 2 to 6, with the participation of over 20 astronauts from a number of countries, the head of the congress project, Rena Jafarova, said at a briefing in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that a special program has been prepared for guests from the US, Germany, Austria, Russia, Canada, Italy, Japan and a number of other countries: “The program includes various events, including meetings with students, participation in TV programs, as well as autograph session as part of the Open Day.”
This year 22 companies involved in the space sector acquired a record number of sponsorship packages for the International Astronautical Congress. According to this indicator, the congress in Baku surpassed those previously held in Australia, Germany, the US, the UAE and France.
The Baku congress also set a record for the number of countries from which scientific reports were presented. Unlike previous congresses, this year scientists and researchers from 95 countries working in the space field presented 3,600 scientific articles.
