GoMap.az restores toponyms of western Azerbaijan

The toponyms of western Azerbaijan have been restored by GoMap.az. All names of cultural and historical monuments, settlements, rivers, and other places of this region are now present in their historical names in the Azerbaijani language.

Report informs that SINAM has implemented the project 'Memory of western Azerbaijan' with the support of the ministry of digital development and transport.

SINAM President Elchin Aliyev said at a presentation of the project that the restoration of the historical names of western Azerbaijan became the restoration of historical justice.

He said that it is impossible to raze history to the ground in an era of digital development.

"Thanks to an electronic platform, we could show the real names to the world," he said, noting that over 1,000 toponyms were restored within the framework of the project.

"We hope that displaced persons from these territories will visit this e-platform and indicate the places they are from, and attach images if they have some," Aliyev said.
