Azerbaijan is systematically integrating artificial intelligence into urban and regional development frameworks.
Report informs that Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov said this at an event titled "Artificial Intelligence for Cities – Urban Planning and Building Smart, Sustainable Communities," held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to him, the goal is to build smarter, safer and more adaptive community ecosystems: "By adapting national digital infrastructure, promoting high-performance computing clusters and training local artificial intelligence personnel, the country is creating the robust data architecture and regulatory framework required to lead regional technological transformation."
The deputy minister noted that 100% fixed broadband coverage with an average speed of 95 megabits today serves as a strong digital infrastructure enabler for Azerbaijan: "Data centers and government clouds provide the high-speed data processing capabilities necessary for deploying AI-powered urban services and advancing smart community initiatives. To date, we have full fiber-optic network coverage even in the most remote villages. I would say this is about 99.5%, and villages without access to fiber-optic internet have similar access through wireless connectivity offering similar speed and capacity."
