Daimler to invest EUR 500 miln in self-driving trucks

Baku. 8 January. REPORT.AZ/ German car manufacturer Daimler has announced that it will invest EUR 500 mln into developing autonomous trucks by 2025, the company said at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Report informs citing foreign media that the highly automated trucks will be put in operation already in 2019. The move will create 200 jobs, the company said.
The first highly automated trucks will initially be launched on the roads in the United States.
“Highly automated” means that the vehicles will “travel in defined areas and between defined hubs without any expectation of the system that a user will respond to a request to intervene."
