Azerbaijan building internet-independent state services

Azerbaijan is working on building sovereign state services that will remain functional even without internet connectivity, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, Tural Mammadov, stated during panel discussions at the 4th National Cybersecurity Forum in Baku, Report informs.

The official highlighted the importance of data storage within the country: "In the context of sanctions and wars, every state is considering how to become more resilient. Even in the event of an internet shutdown, it should be able to maintain its internal infrastructure, communication, and services. Establishing local exchanges and sovereign state services independent of the internet is a priority. One of the projects our Service is currently working on is precisely the creation of such sovereign services. This will ensure that even if the internet is cut off, these services remain accessible and operational for citizens and government institutions. Certain steps have already been taken in this direction."
