Azerbaijan is working on developing digital infrastructure and attaches great importance to strengthening international cooperation in this field, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said at the plenary session of the international digital forum Digital Almaty on January 31, Report informs.
"Digitalization is an integral part of global changes shaping our reality... To achieve digital transformation goals, it is necessary to create reliable infrastructure that will provide access to modern digital services for all segments of society. One of the key elements of such infrastructure is access to high-speed internet. Among significant initiatives aimed at developing internet infrastructure, the 'Online Azerbaijan' project should be highlighted," Asadov stated.
According to him, within this project, more than 99% of all residential and commercial properties in the country are connected to high-speed broadband internet.
"One of the most important steps towards digitalization of public administration was the creation of the 'digital government' platform. The national data exchange system 'Digital Bridge' has been implemented, which fully digitized the process of information exchange between government agencies. The 'Government Cloud' project has been launched to improve public administration efficiency," the prime minister noted.
He mentioned that all of the above is just a small part of the projects being implemented to create sustainable, modern, and secure digital infrastructure necessary for the development of "e-government" and acceleration of digital transformation.
"We also attach great importance to creating favorable conditions for startup development, stimulating entrepreneurship, and supporting the innovation ecosystem. Various programs are being implemented to help beginning entrepreneurs launch projects and develop their potential," said the head of government.
Asadov also noted that digital transformation should be viewed not only as a technological process but also as an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation: "It not only opens new opportunities but also poses complex challenges requiring joint solutions. Azerbaijan prioritizes strengthening international cooperation and is ready for joint work to create a sustainable digital future. I am confident that today's forum will make an important contribution to our interaction in this direction."
