Over the past week, more than 18 million cases of coronavirus infection have been reported worldwide, Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said at a briefing in Geneva, Report informs, referring to TASS.

According to the WHO chief, the next few weeks will be critical for health services fighting the pandemic.

Gebreyesus also noted that the "omicron" strain of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly.
