A record 15.1 million people worldwide have been infected with COVID-19 in the past week, Report informs, citing the World Health Organization (WHO).

From January 3 to 9, 15,154,666 new infections were registered globally, and 43,461 people died. During this period, the largest increase in the number of infections (7.1 million) was in Europe.

So far, 308 million people worldwide have been infected with the coronavirus, and more than 5 million of them have died.
