WHO hails Azerbaijan's accession to COVAX mechanism

The World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan has welcomed Baku's initiative to join the COVAX mechanism, WHO Office in Azerbaijan told Report.

According to the agreement between the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance and GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines), Azerbaijan will be one of the first countries to receive the vaccine against coronavirus, which has passed the WHO prequalification stage.

COVAX is a mechanism designed to accelerate the search for effective drugs for all countries and provide fast, fair, and equal access to them worldwide.

The goal of COVAX is to distribute two billion doses of safe and effective vaccines by the end of 2021, which have passed the regulatory approval and WHO prequalification phase.
