UNICEF: Azerbaijan's efforts to import vaccines yield positive effect

"Imports of vaccines under the COVAX platform are fully funded by the government."

UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan Edward Carwardine said at a welcoming ceremony for Vaxzevria (previously COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca) vaccines delivered to the country, Report informs.

He said that the next important task is to achieve mass vaccination of people: "Since the most effective way to combat the virus is vaccination. I hope that with joint efforts, we will overtake a difficult period."

UN Resident Coordinator Ghulam Isaczai congratulated the government on delivering the first batch of vaccines to Azerbaijan within the COVAX platform. "In general, the Azerbaijani government is making great efforts to import vaccines at an early stage, which yield a positive effect."
