Russian doctor warns of deadly danger of painkillers

Russian doctor and TV anchor Alexander Myasnikov has advised caution in taking widely advertised pain relievers since, in some cases, they harm people's health, Report informs, referring to RIA Novosti.

"Ads are responsible for heart attacks, strokes, bleeding, and death," he said.

Myasnikov noted that popular pain relievers are mainly nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. He added that they help to cope with pain, but 'they have a colossal set of side effects.'

The doctor emphasized that the side effects of this group of drugs include gastric bleeding, increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and several other cardiovascular diseases.

"Contraindications for the pills are the age above 65 and underlying heart diseases," added Myasnikov.

The specialist advised to study the composition of drugs before using them and exercise caution while combining some medications with others since some of them contain a 'hidden' dose of anesthetic that can be harmful.
