Jobs with highest risk of COVID death revealed

Scientists at the University of California have identified professions with the highest risk of death from coronavirus infection, Report informs, referring to the Medrxiv.

Experts reminded that the severity of COVID-19 depends in part on how much viral load a person receives. Therefore, among physicians who are frequently in contact with infected people, the probability of death is the highest even in the age group under 45.

Researchers looked at data on California's COVID cases from March to October 2020 and established how much the death rate increased during the pandemic for other industries.

So, this indicator increased by 39 percent among workers in the food industry and agriculture, 28 percent among employees in transport and logistics, and 23 percent among production workers.

Scientists also noted that, in general, the death rate of the working-age population of the state during the pandemic rose by 22 percent over the period under review.
