Minister: Approach to healthcare should be comprehensive

The approach to healthcare should be comprehensive, Health Minister Teymur Musayev said during a hearing on "Primary healthcare services: current situation, work done, problems and their solutions" held in the Milli Majlis, Report informs.

The minister noted that healthcare funding has increased 30 times over the past 20 years:

"Seventy percent of nearly 700 hospitals that have been built or reconstructed are located in the regions. Significant achievements have been made in the fight against blood diseases."

According to Teymur Musayev, the mandatory health insurance system is being successfully implemented in the country:

"To date, 3,315 medical services have been included in the services package. After the implementation of mandatory health insurance, the number of surgical operations in the country has increased by 89 percent. One of the important issues that needs to be discussed now is about primary medical sanitary aid. I believe that in the near future, we will prepare and make primary medical sanitary aid service available to the population."
