First batch of COVAX vaccines delivered to Azerbaijan

84,000 doses of the Vaxzevria vaccine(previously COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca) were imported from South Korea within the COVAX platform for use against coronavirus. The State Agency on Compulsory Health Insurance, UN, and WHO staff met the persons who brought the vaccine.

The plane carrying the vaccine landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Report informs.

Notably, Azerbaijan is planning to import 432,000 doses of Vaxevria jabs by the end of May. A British-Swedish joint venture produced the vaccine. Besides, 218,790 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be delivered to Azerbaijan within eight weeks.

On January 18, Azerbaijan started the vaccination process against COVID-19 with the CoronoVAC produced by the Chinese company SinoVac.
