COVID nasal spray vaccine may become available in fall of 2022

A vaccine against coronavirus in the form of nasal drops may become available in the fall of 2022 due to the need to conduct clinical trials, said Rinat Maksyutov, general director of the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR, Report informs referring to TASS.
“The nasal spray vaccine format is also being investigated today in many laboratories worldwide, but mostly in laboratory animals. Given the need for clinical research, I believe this is likely to occur next fall,” he noted.
Earlier it was reported that the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology plans to start clinical trials of its vaccine of this type in late 2021 - early 2022 and register it in 2022. The Vector Center is also developing a vaccine in the form of nasal drops.
