Zaur Aliyev: Compulsory health insurance will be applied in four stages next year

“Neither medical staff of the institutions nor people could understand properly preparation works for implementing this process. This is understandable. Since the people have not yet fully used this service,” Zaur Aliyev, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance said.

Report informs that he spoke during a discussion of proposed amendments to the “Law on medical insurance” in the parliament.

According to him, taking into account the complexity of the process, the Agency raised the issue of the gradual implementation of compulsory health insurance in the country next year. This proposal suggests that the process be implemented in four stages throughout the country in 2020. Thus, in the first quarter, 20 regions in the north will benefit from the service, 17 regions in the west in the second quarter, 14 districts in the south in the third quarter, and Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron regions in the fourth quarter. Thus, by the end of 2020 it is planned to apply compulsory insurance throughout the country.”
