Brazil reports first case of monkeypox

Brazil confirmed its first case of monkeypox, local news channel Globo News reported on Wednesday.

The patient, a 41-year old man who is a native of Sao Paulo, recently travelled to Spain, the report said.

The man manifested the first symptoms - fever and muscle pain - on May 28.

The Brazil Ministry of Health reports that the country recorded eight suspected cases of monkeypox infection in various states.
