Azerbaijan offers aid to Iran as part of efforts to contain COVID-19

The Azerbaijani government has decided to allocate $5 mln in financial aid to Iran to contain coronavirus.

Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers told Report that the allocations would be made from the funds, envisaged in the state budget for 2020.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are based on friendship and good neighborliness. The respective ministries and state institutions of the two countries maintain close cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Azerbaijan also supports the efforts of the international community aimed at containing coronavirus and continues fruitful cooperation with the World Health Organization.

Coronavirus has claimed as many as 124 lives in Iran, where the number of confirmed cases of infection has reached 4,747.
