People infected with the Indian strain of COVID-19 face four new symptoms of the disease, said Abdul Ghafur, an infectious disease specialist from the Indian city of Chennai,
According to him, those infected with the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 often complain of diarrhea. Dr. Ghafur clarified that this symptom was observed much less frequently during the first wave of the pandemic.
Besides, patients with the Indian strain face the formation of blood clots, leading to gangrene. Symptoms also include hearing impairment and severe stomach upset.
The Delta variant has spread to over 60 countries over the past six months. This strain is believed to be transmitted 60% faster than the previous dominant strain, the British Kent variant.
