Over the past three years, 273 Ukrainian children whose parents died during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict or are in captivity have undergone rehabilitation in Azerbaijan, Ukrainian Ambassador to Baku Yuriy Husyev said at a press conference, Report informs.
"This program plays an important role in strengthening cooperation and strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan," Husyev said.
He said that a week ago, another group of Ukrainian children arrived in Azerbaijan for rest and rehabilitation, for whom today, on the occasion of the Easter holidays, a charity concert was organized as part of the charity art event "For Children for the Future. Ukraine - Azerbaijan."
According to the Ukrainian Embassy, 29 children whose parents died or went missing during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict are currently undergoing rehabilitation in Azerbaijan. The head of the working group on interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, Alibala Maharramzada, noted that today's event is an indicator of the high level of humanitarian ties between the two countries.
"As everyone knows, Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine and is always close to the Ukrainian people. We hope that the war will end soon, that Ukrainian and Azerbaijani children will hold even more joint events in the future," he noted.
A representative of the coordination headquarters for work with prisoners of war, the head of the project "People of the Future" Viktoriia Tsymbaliuk noted that so far over 3,000 Ukrainian children have taken part in the charity art event "For Children for the Future."
"This project has already been implemented in about 20 countries around the world. The project is aimed at the socialization of children, support, including psychological support, their education, as well as sports development," she added.
