Yalchin Rafiyev, Somalia's minister mull strengthening defense cooperation

Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, who is visiting Somalia, discussed strengthening defense ties between the two countries with Somalia's Defense Minister Abdulbakir Mohammed Nur, Report informs.

"Today [February 4] at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, I received the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev. We discussed strengthening relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of defense," the defense minister said on X.

During his visit to Mogadishu, the Azerbaijani diplomat also met with the country's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dahir Shire.

"Mr. Shire received the Azerbaijani delegation led by His Excellency Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev. The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation in the oil and economic development sectors. The discussions focused on investment opportunities and strengthening cooperation between Somalia and Azerbaijan," noted the statement from Somalia's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
