WHO will further support Azerbaijan's efforts to combat COVID: Isaczai

The office of the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan organized a video call between six experts from the WHO regional office and the staff of the Operative Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan for technical advice and information exchange.

Report says, UN resident coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ghulam Isaczai has tweeted.

According to G. Isaczai, the WHO will continue to support the efforts of Azerbaijan in the fight against coronavirus.

Notably, on December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan. The causative agent of the disease is a new type of coronavirus, officially named as COVID-2019.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Azerbaijan reached 1,197.
