Vuk Jeremic: Serbia and Azerbaijan to continue co-op on int’l platforms

Serbia and Azerbaijan will continue to cooperate within international organizations, former Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, who chaired the UN General Assembly in 2012, said on the IDDTalks YouTube channel of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy of ADA University, Report informs.

He noted that the two countries already have good relations and support each other on critical and important issues, in particular, such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Although Serbia is not a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, we participated and helped in the initial formation of this organization,” he said, adding that the two countries will continue to maintain relations within major international organizations such as NAM.

The ex-minister of Serbia also stressed the importance of the X Global Baku Forum, in which he took part. “It was a very interesting forum, and it is clear that in the ten years of its existence it has accumulated collective wisdom and significance,” he said.

According to Jeremic, the forum was a really important event with a serious agenda.

“One of the most interesting topics was the discussion of the crisis of multilateralism, the role of the non-aligned movement in the 21st century... as well as the role of Azerbaijan as the chair country of this organization,” Jeremic said, expressing confidence that this concept will be in great demand in this century.
