US ambassador welcomes Azerbaijan’s decision to invite international observers to elections

US ambassador Earle Litzenberger has welcomed the decision of the Azerbaijani government to invite international observers to early parliamentary elections.

Report informs that, speaking to journalists, Litzenberger said, 'I welcome the government’s decision to invite representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE PA to observe the early parliamentary elections.'

"Free and democratic elections will allow Azerbaijan to move forward," he said.

The US ambassador also expressed hope that there will be more women, including women entrepreneurs, among the new faces in the new parliament.
