New approaches must be added to urban policy under current conditions, Ayman Elhefnawi, representative of UN-Habitat, said at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
He stated that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East demonstrates how interconnected urban systems are: "Rising energy prices, supply chain disruptions, financial instability, and forced displacement directly affect housing accessibility and the livelihoods of urban residents."
Elhefnawi also pointed out that in the current situation, emergency financial mechanisms, rapid reconstruction funds, and humanitarian-development cooperation models have become increasingly important.
