The United Kingdom supports Azerbaijan in clearing the liberated areas, the country's ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp said on Twitter.
The diplomat called on Azerbaijan to join the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines, noting that he met today with Hafiz Safikhanov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Public Union for Anti Mine Campaign.
The union works to create a single database of people affected by mines and unexploded ordnance in the country, as well as to solve the problems of these people. According to the organization, two mine-related incidents in May killed one serviceman and two civilians and injured two service members. In total, 59 people have been affected by mines and unexploded ordnance since the beginning of the year.
