IOM chief: Azerbaijan has useful experience in solving migration issues

Baku. 1 February. REPORT.AZ/ Currently there are about 250 million migrants in the world.

Report informs, it was stated by the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Azerbaijan Serhan Aktoprak, at the presentation of the "Handbook of European legislation on asylum, immigration and borders", translated into Azerbaijani.

He said that migration is a natural process: "In a world of increasing number of wars and calamities the number of migrants also increase."

He noted that over the past 16 years the world has lost about 40,000 migrants while migrating from one country to another.

Aktoprak also said that growing migration crisis in the world also has an impact on Azerbaijan. He informed that Azerbaijan has a useful experience in solving migration issues and the country could share it with other countries.

At the same time, he stressed the European Union will continue to support Azerbaijan in the issue of migration.
