"Baku is really a hero-city. The role of this city in the victory in the Great Patriotic War is unprecedented, " co-chairman of the Board of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, Special Representative of Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy told journalists on the sidelines of the 9th International Victory Forum "Great Victory gained by unity" held in St. Petersburg.
He noted that a similar forum can be held in Baku: “It is even necessary, because this is a victory gained by unity. Within the framework of this forum, we recalled that Baku supplied the front with its oil by 80%. I think that a year later, after the next year, we would gladly accept an invitation to organize a forum in Baku, if the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan considers it possible."
Commenting on the issue of humanitarian projects between Russia and Azerbaijan, Mikhail Shvydkoy noted that there are a lot of them. "I must say that the processes of educational and cultural cooperation between our countries have never ended. Above all, a branch of the Moscow State University and other Russian educational institutions operate in Azerbaijan.”
According to the special representative of the President of Russia, the relations are always at the highest level. "The level of trust between our countries and nations is a clear confirmation of this," he concluded.
