Secretary General: Turkic Council working on preparation of 6th Summit of Presidents

Baku. 23 August. REPORT.AZ/ Turkic Council is working on the preparation of the 6th Summit of the Presidents of the member states. Report informs, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ramil Hasanov said during a visit to Baku.

At a briefing R. Hasanov said that the main topics of the summit, which will be held in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, will be youth and sports issues, as well as fight against terrorism. "According to him, interaction between the member states in the international arena will also be discussed.

According to him, such cooperation is important for the defense of the positions in the common areas, especially against the claims of the Armenians: "For example the issue associated with lavash (pita). When the participating countries file an appeal they can remain out of the question. If an appeal is filed by the joint forces, it gives better results."

R. Hasanov also said that the Turkic Council filed a formal request for observer status at the UN. He expressed the hope that this status will be obtained. The Secretary General noted that the organization continues to develop cooperation with many organizations, including with countries such as Hungary, which is interested in cooperation with the organization: "Although Turkmenistan is not a member of the Turkic Council, it is involved in a number of meetings and events. Similarly, Uzbekistan involved in discussions of security issues."
