Russian diplomat says Baku can 'help find a way out' of Moscow-Ankara crisis

The credibility of Azerbaijani diplomacy will help find a way out of the current situation in Syria and bring the positions of Moscow and Ankara on the Syrian issue closer, Andrei Baklanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association of Russian Diplomats, said.

He spoke during the Moscow-Baku video bridge on the outcome of Erdoğan's Baku visit and the situation in Syria.

Baklanov said: "Today, all eyes are on Syria. The position taken by our Azerbaijani colleagues is interesting to Russia, because Baku plays a stabilizing role in the region, and Russia is happy about it. I am not saying that Baku should play an intermediary role. However, it can help stabilize the hazardous situation in Idlib, which appeared for the first time over a long period. Baku maintains trusting relations with Russia and Turkey and can help find a way out of the situation."
